AVAILABLE - H&K Mark 23 Pistol, 10rd and 12rd models One of the most thoroughly tested handguns in history, the MK23/Mark 23 project originated in 1991 when HK began development for the U.S. Special Operations Command, the organization that directs the activities of America's most elite military units, including the Navy SEALs and the Army Special Forces. On May 1, 1996, the first HK MK 23 pistols were delivered to the U.S. Special Operations Command for operational deployment, making the MK 23 the first caliber .45 ACP pistol to enter American military service since the venerable Government Model 1911A1. During testing, MK 23 pistols met the most stringent operational and accuracy requirements ever demanded of a combat handgun. Endurance testing demonstrated a service life of over 30,000 rounds of +P ammunition. To meet the reliability requirement, the pistol had to demonstrate a minimum of 2,000 mean rounds between stoppages (MRBS) with both M1911 ball and +P ammunition. All pistols exceeded the 2000 MRBS with an average of 6000 MRBS. In more than 450 accuracy test firings from a precision firing fixture at 25 meters, MK 23 pistols far exceeded the government requirement, averaging 1.44 inches, with 65 groups of less than one inch. OMG - Someone at CNN.com is finally getting it.... My favorite quote: "Because like it or not, the folks spraying our cities with bullets are not NRA members or legal gun owners. And despite the tendency to tie it all together, they have nothing to do with the Adam Lanzas of the world." This is an outstanding article published on CNN.com. It looks honestly at the culture of violence, and doesn't just take a "one size fits all" attitude towards stopping gun violence. The author thoughtfully points out that beyond the fact that guns were used, the shootings in Aurora, Sandy Hook, and now the Navy Yard are all different. And that these incidents are very different from the violence that occurs on the streets.

Opinions wanted - What are the groups feelings about the N-PAP and O-PAP rifles? You guys are way more knowledgeable about the AK pattern rifles than I am. What are you thoughts on these? My understanding is they are a Yugoslavian knock-off. The Yugo government didn't want to pay royalties to the Russians for the AK, so they created a 'new' rifle using a heavy gauge stamped receiver. My understanding is they are a Yugoslavian knock-off. The Yugo government didn't want to pay royalties to the Russians for the AK, so they created a 'new' rifle using a heavy gauge stamped receiver. Is that right? How do people feel about their value/reliability/usability? Thanks for your input, and hopefully some folks like myself can learn a little in the process.

The new face of American Gun-owners and Shooters

From 2008 until 2012, 37% of new gun owners are young women. In total, it is estimated that 1 in 5 shooters is now female. And also in the last 5 years, almost half (47%) of new gun owners have been from urban or suburban locations. So the days of redneck white guys as the model for gun owners is really changing.

Might be your only choice in the near future if you like the shiny silver 1911. Metro is another of the Philippine based manufacturers, made in Manilla and imported by Eagle Imports. Most of the reviews have put it at a very good value in the low priced 1911 market. As with most (including the Rock Islands and others), they really shoot in after about 50-100 rounds and become super nice firearms.

As pointed out by +Eligio Marin, there are some new updates going in to effect as of Sunday Sept 1st for us here in Texas. Don't worry, for the most part they are GOOD changes. Basically, it addresses storing a firearm in your private vehicle on a public university, unintentional display of a concealed firearm, CHL education requirements and CHL renewal procedures. New Executive Orders are certainly a bad move, but really nothing has changed No doubt people have heard about the recently signed Executive Orders on importing firearms. Before anyone jumps the gun and starts thinking they are going to corner the market on Mosin Nagents or something, realize that this applies to a very small number of rifles that were already unable to be imported. These orders effect rifles that were manufactured in the US and exported to other countries. It makes it illegal to re-import them. It has nothing to do with rifles made outside the country. What this is about is a bunch of M-1 Garand and Carbines sitting in Korea. They were exported to the Korean Government, and have been sitting in warehouses. The Koreans want to sell these to collectors and the CMP. But federal law says the State Department must give permission for the re-importing of firearms that have been exported to a foreign government, and they have withheld this permission for some time now. So all this EO does is make it official permanently, instead of still possible pending State Dept approval. Yes, we should all hate them for doing this. But honestly, it hasn't changed a thing. They are just screwing us a different way now.

"Miss. high court upholds open-carry gun law"

Open Carry legal again in the Magnolia State The Mississippi Supreme Court unanimously overturned a lower court ruling blocking House Bill 2, which clarified open carry laws. Circuit Judge Winston Kidd put the measure on hold after a suit by the Hinds County district attorney, saying the law was vague and unconstitutional. The Supreme Court vacated that ruling. The Bill was scheduled to become law on July 1st.
